EMBRACE RESILIENCE. EMBRACE GROWTH.

Who is "we"?

We are the ones giving our all. We are the ones giving all of us to help those we teach, serve, nurse, educate, lead, hear, walk, talk, understand, and grow. We are the teachers, nurses, speech therapists, audiologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, educational aides, principals, psychologists, parents, grandparents, and the countless others whose purpose in life is to help those we care for and help them grow. Help them grow into the amazing people we know they can be. Helping them realize they are powerful in and of themselves and they can do anything they set their minds to.
We are the ones that go back, day in and day out doing the same thing, despite the stress, fatigue, burn out, anxiety, and maybe even depression. We show up.

What do we need?

We need a lot of things. We give so much daily, we usually don’t have much, if any, for ourselves. We love and care so much that it hurts us. Sometimes we don’t even realize it. We need to take care of ourselves. We need rest, we need laughter, we need encouragement, we need strength, and we sometimes need help getting back on our feet.

Where can we get it?

Right here. We Have Resilience is the place for you to come to fill your cup back up. What does that mean? It means getting what you need. Whether that’s a laugh, some encouragement, motivation, tips on how to manage your time, quick and easy crockpot recipes, or a recommendation for a good book. This is a place to get ALOT of things. Please don’t be dismayed, there’s not much here at first. But, like weeds, it will grow like crazy. This is currently a website and on Instagram at wehaveresilience.

Why get it here?

I’m not going to act like I know how difficult it is to be things that I’m not. I’m not a teacher, educational aide, nurse, occupational therapist, physical therapist, or parent. I’m a speech therapist (and hopefully soon to be mother in 2 years!), but I do see how hard they work. I have worked in a variety of settings and have directly seen how strong each and every one of them have to be to do their job. Let alone raise children, care for aging parents, pets, have a clean house, save money, have a good retirement, be a fabulous cook, just to list a few. I’m not entirely sure, or can even begin to imagine, how they handle all of that.
But, I do know what it’s like to work 60-80 hour weeks, to come home emotionally, mentally, and physically drained, to work through lunch (again), to have a short temper with my fiance, feel like I’m not making enough money, feel ashamed for spending too much money, feel ashamed for eating the cupcake, for not working out “tomorrow”, for not negotiating my salary, or to be taken advantage of. Just to list a few. I may not have children yet or know exactly what it’s like to walk in your shoes, but we have walked on the same planet. Through trial and error, countless hours of reflection and problem solving, I’ve learned some clever ways of dealing with the tricky things. Such as how to better manage time, how to be organized in a way that actually makes sense, how to stick to a regular cleaning schedule, how to ask for help, how to set boundaries, how to have fun, how to process my weaknesses and create game plans, and how to bounce back, especially when I didn’t feel like it. If you give me a chance, I can help. And hopefully make you laugh along the way.
